Report: Raiders Interested In A Trade Up To Draft Bradley Chubb

Reggie McKenzie doesn’t trade up in the draft often, but when he does he prefers it to be for a superstar (or Connor Cook).

According to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, the Raiders are considering a trade up in the first round if Bradley Chubb is not drafted in the first few picks.

Via The Athletic:

“For the first time in 13 years, the Raiders could trade up in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night. The Raiders currently pick 10th and would strongly consider moving up to No. 5 or 6 if North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb was still available…”

It would take a stockpile of picks for the Raiders to move up 4-5 picks in the draft and that doesn’t necessarily make sense for a team with so many holes in the roster.

One theory is that the Raiders could trade arguably their most valuable commodity.

It’s unlikely, but not impossible.

Jon Gruden isn’t afraid of much and if he can get a handful of top picks for Khalil Mack, it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that he would trade one of the league’s best defensive players.

But ideally, the Raiders would keep Mack and play Chubb across from him.

That would immediately be one if the most feared pass-rushing tandems in the NFL.

Jump out to a lead with Carr/Gruden and send two of the league’s best pass rushers in the field to seal the deal.

Sounds like a winning formula, doesn’t it?

  1. Heck yeah that would be a fantastic move, switching firsts & possibly two later round picks. We’ve got plenty, we’ve also got plenty of needs as well.
But the Idea of trading K Mack for a draft pick is completely asinine.
But what do I know, I’m just a fan–for the last 46 years

    1. This idea is much bettee than trading Mack. If they trade mack, they would be hoping for Chubb to play like Mack. So whats the point? I love Amari, but this move would make more sense than trading Mack.

  2. If Mack is not a Raider at the end of this draft I will lose my lunch and be sitting in my breakfast!

  3. Mack is a Former defensive player of the year. A proven NFL star and he’s heading into the prime of his career. As good as Chubb is projected to be it’s still a projection. If the Raiders can make THE draft day steal of getting Chubb and pairing him with Mack the Raider defense could possibly end up top 10 in the league.

  4. Trading Mack would be a huge mistake . So would trading away a bunch of picks for a guy who MAY be an all pro . Stay at 10 and grab the best defensive player on the board . This , I believe is just click bait .

  5. I would trade Hands of Glass Cooper in a heartbeat … Mack will retire a Raider. Cooper is to inconsistent
