Report: Raiders Interested in Broncos CB Chris Harris Jr.

With the start of free agency less than three weeks away (16 days actually), the Raiders are gearing up for what they hope will be a busy free agency, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Cornerback is a position the Raiders will most likely be willing to spend aggressively in the weeks ahead and they were linked on Monday to a top free-agent-to-be from the division rival Broncos.

According to ABC Denver7 insider Troy Renck, the Raiders are among five teams interested in Chris Harris Jr., with the other teams being Dallas, Houston, New York (A), and Houston.

For what it’s worth, Harris was the 8th-highest Pro Football Focus graded Bronco defender in 2019 and graded better than any cornerback on the Raiders roster.

Harris is the second defensive back linked to the Raiders in the past three days (Dallas CB Byron Jones was a well), and the 30 year-old Bronco has been rumored to have interest in playing in Las Vegas – which would make sense for any free agent considering the Nevada tax breaks.

Another cornerback that could be on the move is Detroit’s Darius Slay, but Slay would have to come by way of trade and is expected to cost at least a third-round pick. Slay will command around $15 million per year to re-sign, which is a significant investment even for a team with $51 million in salary cap space.
