Report: Raiders Interested in Odell Beckham Jr. if Browns Release Him

After losing Henry Ruggs to one of the saddest storylines the NFL has navigated in years (or ever), the Raiders are on the hunt for another wide receiver.

First, they were linked to DeSean Jackson on Tuesday.

Now it appears the Raiders will also have interest in Odell Beckham Jr. when the Browns inevitably decide to release him.

Jordan Schultz on Twitter: “Sources: #Saints and #Raiders have displayed interest in Odell Beckham, Jr., who has currently cut contact with HC Kevin Stefanski. The #Browns could still release him, allowing him to then sign elsewhere. Even after his excused missed practice, I’m told OBJ plans to play Sunday. / Twitter”

Obviously, the Raiders can’t do anything until Beckham is released, but you can be sure that Beckham’s camp is well aware of the Raiders interest in him. For the conspiracy theorists out there, it’s possible that Beckham understands that a team, or teams, are interested in him and that is what is pushing him to force his release from the Browns.

Beckham has all the leverage in his dispute with the Browns. If he causes enough trouble, the Browns won’t have any choice but to release him.

The question then… do the Raiders really want to add another receiver that has pulled a stunt like this to get released?

Apparently, they do.
