Wednesday was a pivotal day in the ‘what quarterback is going to replace Derek Carr’ carousel.
Why?
Because on Wednesday the most bizarre quarterback idea to date was floated around by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“I would also not rule out the Raiders [to pursue Rivers] if they are looking for a veteran quarterback,” Rapoport said of the soon-to-be former Chargers quarterback. “Tom Brady has been floated by some. I would expect them to take a look at Rivers as well.”
The Brady rumor was believable. This one is not. It is noteworthy, however, that Rapoport said “if” the Raiders are looking to add a veteran quarterback.
Rivers turns 39 during the 2020 season, which is much younger than Brady, but Rivers has shown a considerable deterioration of arm strength (though some would say Brady has as well). Rivers was bad against the Raiders this year and the notion that Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden are seriously considering Rivers might be the most difficult to believe Raider quarterback rumor yet.
And that’s saying a lot.

Will these guys stop already?
Mayock said if they can improve the position they will….
There is not ONE quarterback in the league who the Raiders could bring in, that in 2020 would be able to operate JG’s O scheme at a level as High as Carr…Not Brady, Not Rivers, and certainly not any of the rookies….
Bottom line is the Raiders would be taking a step back by bringing in a new QB, and furthermore Mayock said “they are not shopping Carr, at all…And they no what they have in Carr and appreciate it”…..Carr will be the starter in Vegas in 2020 and on…
Mr. T… You, My Man, Could Not be More Right!!! These Idiots have Nothing to Offer as far as Real Stories so they Just Make **** Up…
There is absolutely no way possible that Rivers or the Raiders brass would want this to happen! Rivers probably has a hate so deep inside for the Raiders that you couldn’t get him to wear a “free” Raiders tee-shirt let alone pay him to wear a Jersey with his last name on the back of it! Bringing Phillip Rivers to Las Vegas to play football only happens if the Raiders trade Derek Carr for a 7th round pick in the 2020 draft and every QB left on the planet turns down the opportunity to play football for the Raiders!
LMFAO…… Looking for a response? You got one!
better off with Jim Plunkett!
-They may be looking at Rivers as a backup, he’s certainly not an upgrade over a 29 yo Carr who has his best football ahead of him.
-Mayock said that Carr had played well, and by “upgrade” he might mean the backup.
You haters best get ready to see Carr under center in Las Vegas.
What lie are they going to come up with next? They played Rivers twice a year and have had first hand looks at him. They have a book on Rivers all his strenghts and weaknesses, even his tendencies. I’m so glad the combine will start tomorrow so these idiots will have something to write about and not have to make up stories just to have a byline or something to say when appearring on a telecast, podcast or radio show!!!!
When did reporting on football become make up stories that have no validity? Ian Rapoport I expected better from him. Guess he’s just a hack like the rest of them out there lately! Las Vegas Raiders Carr 2020!
