Donald Penn’s holdout didn’t end with a new deal, but if there’s a new deal to be done, Penn has done what the Raiders have asked – show up and see what happens.
#Raiders LT Donald Penn showed up in good faith. Team brass wanted him to show up before potentially doing a new deal. Now he's at practice.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Silver, Penn was given “vague assurances” that the Raiders would get something done when he returned to the team. Penn also tallied over a million dollars in fines that will likely be forgiven, but those details are rarely released to the public.
Obviously, a million dollars in fines in exchange for a “vague assurance” of a new deal doesn’t sound like a great return on Penn’s holdout, but if the Raiders Pro Bowl left tackle gets a raise, maybe it was a wise decision.
For what it’s worth, a twitter poll this week indicated that fans are overwhelmingly in favor of the Raiders revisiting Penn’s deal (which is undeniably a bargain from the team’s perspective).
POLL: With Donald Penn ending his holdout, should the #Raiders be willing to re-negotiate his contract?
