It was reported that the Raiders were in the mix to sign Frank Gore (who today signed with the Jets), but the Raiders have apparently settled on another veteran running back to join Josh Jacobs, Jalen Richard, and Lynn Bowden Jr.
According to a report from Sacramento’s ABC10, the Raiders plan on signing former Broncos running back Devontae Booker.
Booker, 27, spent the first four years of his career in Denver and has 1,103 career rushing yards, but you can bet that Jon Gruden is more impressed by Booker’s 105 career receptions in limited action.
As of now, Booker looks like a long shot to make the roster, but if the offseason is cut short by COVID-19 regulations, his chances of making the Raiders final roster might get a little better. Like wide receivers and backup quarterbacks, Gruden can never seem to have enough pass-catching running backs on his roster.
That being the case, it sounds like Booker needs to pass a physical before any of the other details might actually matter.
