Players Have “Taken Over” the Raiders Locker Room Since Josh McDaniels Left

According to a report in The Athletic this week, there has been a major shift in power in the Raiders locker room over the last couple of weeks.

“The players have taken this place over,” a source told Dianna Russini. “Ownership is fine with it, too.”

“Interim head coach Antonio Pierce has guided this team to two wins against the Giants and Jets, empowering his players to be themselves and voice their concerns to coaches,” Russini continued…

“Meetings have moved to earlier times to accommodate the assistants’ preferences, and players have more say on how they want to operate as an organization. For example, the team had planned to fly to Florida on Friday and practice Saturday in Orlando for their game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Instead, some team leaders spoke up because they preferred to practice in Las Vegas and then fly to Florida on Saturday. It’s a slight adjustment, but it’s what the players wanted.”

Whatever the formula is right now for the Raiders, it’s one that’s working.

Players seem to be at ease without McDaniels on the sideline, and Antonio Pierce deserves a lot of credit for the team’s turnaround. So far, he has been a perfect fit for the locker room.

If the Raiders somehow beat the Dolphins on Sunday, the coaches and players deserve to dominate NFL headlines next week… and it might be a good idea to go ahead and take the “interim” labels away from everyone in the building.

  1. It’s highly doubtful that Mark is any smarter than he was after Rich Bisaccia led the Silver and Black to the playoffs. Heck, he will probably bring in Belicheat.

  2. BB costs $20 mill/year. Mark has deep pockets following the move to LV but it ain’t that deep. Also, BB’s assistants cost top dollars too.
