Sounds Like Raiders RB Theo Riddick Might Be “On The Way Out”

One of the Raiders intriguing position group competitions this year has been playing out among the running backs. Josh Jacobs is the clear workhorse of the group and Jalen Richard figures to continue his role from the last two years.

But how will things shake out after those two and will rookie Lynn Bowden Jr. be ready for a role right away?

The Theo Riddick signing only raised more questions when he signed 10 days ago (some believed Riddick was brought in because Bowden Jr. was struggling to pick up the offense), but according to a team insider, Riddick may soon be on the outside looking in at a roster spot.

“I was told Sunday night that [Jalen] Richard had moved ahead of Riddick, and it looks like he is on the way out,” Sports Illustrated’s Hondo Carpenter wrote on Monday.

If Riddick doesn’t make the final roster, the question will be whether or not the Raiders decide to keep just three running backs. Understanding that Jacobs, Bowden Jr., and Richard are in, would the Raiders be inclined to keep Devontae Booker or Rod Smith?

With just four days until rosters have to be trimmed to 53 players (Saturday), we’ll have answers soon enough.
