For years the Raiders have been forced to sit back and watch the top quarterback prospects taken ahead of them in the draft, but for the first time in more than a decade, the Raiders have a need at quarterback and will most likely have one of the top picks in the draft.
Even though it has come at a cost, the “good” news is the Raiders are probably going to be bad enough to have an opportunity at the top quarterbacks in the draft.
The bad news is that many believe the quarterback options in the 2025 draft will be a lot more complicated than they were a year ago.
There doesn’t appear to be a Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels in this year’s draft and a top pick in the 2025 draft isn’t going to have the same value that it did a year ago.
From the Raiders standpoint, that means they should probably look for a potential franchise quarterback ahead of the draft. They can still draft a quarterback, but the decision-makers in the building need to begin casting a wide net at the quarterback position as soon as right now.
Yahoo Sports insider Charles Robinson talked about that dynamic this week…
“The Raiders are cooked at quarterback, and just fired their QB coach, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. But they’re also one year too late in trying to resolve the problem with a class loaded with talent,” Yahoo Sports insider Charles Robinson reported this week. “The time to get their franchise quarterback was this past spring, but they stood pat at the 13th overall pick, allowing the top six players at the position to be selected in front of them. Now they’re staring down the barrel of a 2025 class that lacks top-end talent and overall depth at the position.”
Most fans haven’t been intrigued by the idea, but Robinson thinks the Raiders should find a way to get Bryce Young ahead of the trade deadline.
The popular opinion is that Young will eventually be traded for a fourth-round pick and that’s a cost the Raiders should be willing to pay considering the desperation of their quarterback situation.
“If [Bryce] Young had been available in the 2024 draft rather than 2023, the general consensus I get is that he likely would have slotted fourth overall, behind Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye — but ahead of Michael Penix, J.J. McCarthy and Bo Nix,” Robinson said. “That seems like a much better option than a weak 2025 class — or slugging it out next season without a resolution at the position and hoping for something better in the 2026 draft. Trade for Young and start him as soon as he’s ready.”
For what it’s worth, The Athletic’s Vic Tafur believes the Raiders might be willing to trade for a young quarterback, but there’s another one they would be more interested in trading for.
“I think the Raiders might be more interested in Anthony Richardson,” Tafur said last week on the Just Win podcast this week. “I think the high concerns about Bryce Young that everybody has are also shared in this building. I don’t think the Colts are going to trade Richardson, but if they were going to, I think the Raiders might listen or be involved in whatever talks there were.”
Tafur also added that he doesn’t think the Raiders will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline, so there’s a good chance these entertaining trade ideas will end up being a lot to do about nothing.

Charles Robinson, hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😆🤣🤣.
God please end this publication immediately…This is literally a toilet paper publication.
Please end your idiotic stories and quotes from unreliable sources
You need to get someone today. We cannot go back after the by with what we have. Ridder may work out eventually but we need an insurance policy. Go get Richardson or Fields already. Don’t wait until the draft and Sherrie has baggage well taught from his dad. Please get someone in before today’s deadline. I think personally Menshew is colorblind he just throws to anyone moving..sad. Save our season Telesco or your JOB.
Just think about the second half of the season and finish strong… don’t evaluate now do it during the rest of the games… stop looking for superstars and get players that play… 11 beats 1 every time and stop getting rid of good players or picking up QB after QB… move back to California and you’ll receive the greatest gift on earth … the LOVE of Raider fans …never ending…
I agree trade for AR but not with anything more substantial than Minshew and a late rounder. They liked “the gardner” last year so this is a way to get rid of him and get back a project for cheap. No Bryce.
Suck until the 2026 draft. Get Arch #1 overall.
Any young talent will be as good as any (this upcoming draft)but with all of the talent (with the majority being top notch),like Marvin Lewis but AP needs one more season then throw him in the dumpster (with Gruden,Mcdaniels)and the rest of that trash…!
“Stood pat” is a real funny way to say “No team wanted to trade down.”
I’m hoping the Getsy firing means there going to try and trade for fields. I’m with Tafur nobody worth taking QB wise. Get fields and hope for the best but Ewers, Ward definitely isn’t the guy. Sanders overrated only hyped up because of Deion. Yeah thats pretty much it junk. Btw we better not hire Dennis Allen again.
