There has been a lot of talk about the Raiders potentially trading for Justin Fields, but it sounds like the chances are slim that it will actually happen.
According to Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter, the Bears’ asking price for Justin Fields is currently more than what the Raiders are willing to spend.
“I know that there was great consideration about [trading for] Justin Fields,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast. “I don’t believe personally that that is what’s going to happen… If there were changes in maybe what a team would want for Justin Fields and what the Raiders would be willing to give, I think it’s a possibility. But I believe at this point that is not going to happen. I would not definitively say it is ruled out, but as of now I don’t think that is something that is going to happen.”
The general consensus seems to be that the Bears would take a second-round pick for Fields, and it seems reasonable to believe that someone will be willing to pay that price.
Fields turns 25 in March and his stats over the last 20 games aren’t far behind Lamar Jackson.
As far as the Raiders are concerned, it sounds like they simply aren’t that interested in Fields.
If they don’t consider Fields to be worth a second-round pick (with two years remaining on his rookie deal), it’s safe to say they don’t see him as their quarterback of the future.

Second round pick really Justin Fields has more upside than Russell Wilson if they don’t go after Justin Fields I might have to finally after 40 years make a new team this is getting ridiculous a second round pick
i like O’Connell because he is fat and has a stupid mustache. He being a success is encouragement for us guys who have to wear a t-shirt in the pool.
Whether or not the Raiders trade for Fields or not, this young man is another example of how a “can’t miss” concensus best QB in the draft is often fools gold.
With a good O line, coaching and WR’s he might be a tremendous QB. Lets wait and see.
Several of the greatest QB’s in the NFL were re treads who got a new start on a new team and tore it up. Jim Plunkett comes to mind. Flamed out with two teams then led the Raiders to two super bowl victory’s including a 16-1 season.
I would be interested to see him come to the Raiders and get a new start, but have to earn the starting job.
Fields not going anywhere, Washington pays king’s ransom to move up 1. But thanks for helping with the ruse 😂
Bears take MHJ at 1.2.
