The Raiders have finally moved on from Davante Adams, and it has been reported that they came close to getting their asking price from the New York Jets.
The Raiders were said to be looking for a second-round pick for Adams, as well as his new team taking on all the money in his contract.
The Jets were willing to assume Adams’ contract, but for now, the Raiders are only getting back a third-round pick. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the third-round pick will become a second-round pick if Adams is voted to the Associated Press All-Pro team or is on the active roster for the AFC Championship game or Super Bowl.
It will be a long shot for Adams to be named an All Pro at the end of the season, particularly considering he has already missed three games with a hamstring injury. He now has 11 games with the Jets to build on his production through three games with the Raiders: 18 receptions, 209 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Last year, the Associated Press named three wide receivers to the All-Pro team, so Adams will need his numbers at the end of the season to be among the top 5 at his position to be in the conversation.
The other option for the Raiders to get a second-round pick for Adams might be a little more achievable. Considering the talent the Jets have on the roster, it’s certainly a possibility they could reach the AFC Championship game.
Not likely, but it’s possible.
At 2-4, the Jets are only a game out of the Wild Card chase with plenty of time to right the ship. If the Jets can sneak into the playoffs, it would take two wins to reach the AFC Championship Game assuming they don’t somehow play their way into the bye.
Again… not likely, but not impossible.
Considering where the Raiders were with Adams, it feels like this was about the best deal they were going to get. One more loss from the Jets, and there’s a good chance they wouldn’t have been in the running for Adams any longer.
The Saints were the other team trying to trade for Adams and they are in a similar position to the Jets. In fact, the Saints could end up being sellers by the trade deadline at the rate things are falling apart in New Orleans.

Tha RaaDuhs are Example One A of if you don’t have a good qb, all you have is endless frustration and poor decisions. They can’t keep star players happy even in no tax Las Vegas now . Then they can’t trade them for any real value either or do anything with the picks they do get. It will be interesting to see how the lowly cheap A’s do when they get there. The Knights are consistently good and champions. The Aces are champions, also owned by Davis. Tha RaaDuhs better get their good qb or the rest is pointless , repeated , frustration. Can they actually do it ?… not holding my breath. But hey how about not winning anymore meaningless games at the end of the season, blowing better draft position that could get you that good qb …. or hire somebody that actually can find you a good qb … Not Uncle Rico , Not washed Jimmy G , Not statue AOC , Not Purple Drank Grimace , Not etc , etc , etc .
It seems that anybody with a game plan and big talk and hype can just tell Raidernation anything and its’ all right! I know Al Davis disappointed a lot of fans with that 9 year slump but is the NFL, owners and media always right about what moves the Raiders should make?
I hear the fans are unhappy with owner Mark Davis- why? what did he do? was he supposed to make the decisions himself I thought he wasn’t supposed to ‘meddle’ listen very few owners except the Rooney’s, Al, J. Jones and a maybe a few others can make decisions on the football side, most of them let staff handle those situations. So, what did Mark do if he lets the staff run the football side of the team? You had an iconic owner, GM who did that and thought it was a good idea if he stepped down. So I thought you didn’t want owners to ‘meddle’ in their teams staffs?
D. Adams is where the NFL planned it. A “Feel Good” story were the NYJs’ get a star WR and he gets together with his friend/ ex-teammate and they turn the Jets’ season around and take the team to the playoffs while the lowly Raiders keep slipping/ tripping down the NFL mountain being dysfunctional and big time mess.
And Raidernation seems like to get conned by the NFL! maybe fans should look at their loyalty and see if its’ the Raiders or if the NFL working with the Raiders and giving them advise with their(Raiders’) decisions. you don’t thing the NFL can do that? look at the where the Raiders are and the Adams trade and other strange moves-seem to benefit other teams and the NFL more than the Raiders. if the NFL is(IMO) making decisions with the Raiders then fans should ask questions. I don’t think the NFL does things to make us happy. but we sure like to buy the hype and stories they sell us when they work with the Raiders on questionable moves(getting Adams in the first place for high draft picks helped the Packers. letting Carr walk helped the Saints and trading Adams helped the Jets).
What did we give up for him, 1st and 2nd round picks? We get a 3rd round pick in return!!?? Not how championship teams are built! Bad decision after bad decision. We are who we are.😕
The diva is gone and let’s not forget he dropped some important balls too!
