Maxx Crosby on Antonio Pierce Returning to the Raiders: “Why the F—- Would You Ruin That… We’ve Just Got to Keep Him”

A big decision is on the horizon for the Raiders.

Everyone in and around the Raiders’ building seems to be begging Mark Davis to retain Antonio Pierce as the team’s head coach, and Maxx Crosby put an exclamation point on that sentiment after Sunday’s 27-14 win over the Broncos in the season finale.

“If you look at it, it’s like, ‘D—-, I wish we had this for the full season,’” Crosby told The Athletic’s Tashan Reed after Sunday’s game. “And we have the opportunity to do that now, so why the f—- would you ruin that?”

“People have their opinions,” Crosby continued, “but I feel like with the way we play, you feel it, you can see it and you can hear it. It’s a different brand of football and that’s what Raider football is about. We’ve got to bring that back. We’ve got the right guy leading us; we’ve just got to keep him.”

Crosby’s comments came as the strongest endorsement for Pierce that we have seen yet, and the interim coach’s bandwagon is filling up fast. Fans, former players, and even beat writers covering the team are imploring Davis to “Keep AP.”

Davis is expected to allow a thorough hiring process to play out in his search for the Raiders next head coach, and many believe Tom Brady will be a strong voice in the owner’s ear.

Brady was in attendance at the team’s final practice of the season on Friday, and there are some who believe Brady’s preference would be to go with Jim Harbaugh.

I’m told Harbaugh wants to return to the NFL, and has “a lot of interest” in the #Chargers’ vacancy as well. There is a slew of internal support for Antonio Pierce… pic.twitter.com/PT074hSTZZ / Twitter”

    1. He didn’t fail he did well with what he had give the man a full year to prove what he could do

  1. I recently read where Belichick may be a candidate. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too old and snarly, AND the sweet spots of his record were when Brady was there. Brady says that Belichick is great, but that could be out of loyalty. So stick with TOO OLD. JH has managed to recruit well in the past few year to the point that he beats OSU regularly. He is old, but not too old. I read where his wife is from LV and he has NCAA breathing down his neck for sign stealing. Thus, he should settle for a reasonable amount for say a 5 year contract. Keep AP as a #1 assistant coach and let him learn all he can from JH.

  2. I’m an Antonio Pierce fan too, to an extent but the game against the colts on New Year’s Eve and the 0-3 loss to the vikings were nothing short of stupid nonsense reminiscent of the two knuckleheads for Head Coach and General manager they jettisoned for the same nonsense and poor play calling! I’m sick and tired of seeing stupid play calling of which they’ve been doing on multiple occasions causing me to pull what little gray hair I have left after these last 20+ years of excuses in that they have 2nd or 3rd and 1 or 2 and pass the ball to an usually an incomplete resulting in a drive usually initiated by running the **** ball and producing 1st downs then we have to punt or settle for 3 instead of 7!!! RUFKM?!!! Hoe is it we as armchair Head coaches and offensive coordinators see this as a seriously shooting yourself in the foot moment and these guys being paid big bucks have no clue?!!! You have 2 of the best running backs in the NFL in Jacobs and White and you don’t trust them to get you a needed 1st down of 1 or 2 yards!!! Unf…real! We could have possibly won the division with a few less screwed up games this season and been even possibly headed to a Home Field Super Bowl and that scenario was a real possibility after getting rid of those two morons and benching Garafolo and giving the kid the helm like they should have done in the 1st place after his preseason performances, but instead they’re headed to the golf course and we’re left to wait another season for our chance at Super Bowl victory #4!!! No matter who’s running the ship, stupid play calling and clock management need to be top priority!!!!

  3. If you go with Pierce, you need to keep the D coordinator, the OL coach, hire an OC and get a QB who can make plays. I like O’Connell and what he brings but I can not get excited bout him being the starter. Need a playmaker there. Pierce might be a good HC but again will need a VG OC.

  4. Not sure I’ve ever seen something like this before . These players are really putting Davis on the spot here. The pirates have the captain on the plank !! Mark may let the inmates run the asylum, let’s hope they are right. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. It might come down to what each of these candidates think the plan at QB should be. Then if Davis and his inner circle agrees with that. Basically if you don’t have a top one , you are just spinning your wheels and not really contending for titles. Great AP beat all these afc west teams , but the chargers were cooked , the chiefs got problems, and the Broncos might have been playing for a better draft pick than you yesterday … to take a better qb than you and yours ….Just some reality amongst the rah rah here . That Viking loss at home after a bye was horrendous. Chief win on road on Christmas was great.( not offensively great) .Reminds me of DC lead RAA-DERs look horrible then good and vice versa. So what are they really … middle of the road , like their qb. RAA-DERs are so bitterly funny … defense terrible for years , it’s the main problem. They fix it , it seems like , but offense is now the problem. Again though, most all things better with a top qb.

  5. After the Gruden mess and then McDaniels, my confidence in Mark is nearly nonexistent. I sincerely hope he signs AP to a two-three year contract with great incentives and rewards the man for his outstanding leadership.

  6. If Brady was part of bringing the NE coach here, then pass on his advice.
Harbaugh is like Gruden – exhausting and expensive.
Give Pierce a 1+1 option deal and expand from there. Don’t need to spend money on anyone except and offensive coordinator and retaining the defense coordinator.

  7. F—- Brady, why would you ruin a good thing with the coaching staff and the team. They should know what’s the best solutions and situations. You see all the difference he made when he took over the position. “” Antonio Pierce “” All day everyday. The Silver and Black is about to attack!
    ” JUST WIN BABY”!!!

  8. AP is young for a HC and the players are responding. Keep Graham, defense was killing it since getting rid of McZiegler, draft a QB and get an OC that can keep the offense going in the right direction. Yes, he did not make the playoffs and made some stupid calls but that is part of the learning process. He will get it right, JH will bring to much drama, cost too much and have to win the locker room. As Maxx said, “Why the F—- Would You Ruin That… We’ve Just Got to Keep Him”. Give him a 1+1 with incentives. #RN4L
