Maxx Crosby Hasn’t Talked to Raiders in “Couple Weeks”

After an awkward end to the season, Maxx Crosby’s future with the Raiders is a little uncertain and there have been reports in recent weeks that the team is going to be more willing to listen to offers this offseason than they were a year ago.

“Maxx Crosby’s Raiders future is… being questioned around the league. Las Vegas shut down its five-time Pro Bowler last week against his wishes, and the relationship between the sides remains strained,” The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported at the beginning of the month.

“It’s a dramatic shift from just two months ago, when Crosby and Davis nixed any trade discussions ahead of the Nov. 4 deadline. Many believe Las Vegas will be open to moving its star pass rusher if the relationship remains at an impasse, allowing Crosby, who will turn 29 this summer, an opportunity to compete on a team built to win now.”

Nothing can happen between Crosby and the Raiders until after the season (he’s still under contract through 2029), but for now, it seems like the team and the player are both trying to figure out how they want to move forward.

But before the Raiders make a decision on Crosby’s future, they need to find their next head coach, and in the past Crosby has been plugged in a little to what the organization was trying to do.

That might be the case again this year, but speaking with members of the media on Wednesday, Crosby was asked if he has been in contact with the team and he said he has not.

“Not really. No. I haven’t talked to them. Not it the last couple weeks,” Crosby said of his involvement in the team’s search for a new head coach.

“I’ve just been focused on, like I said, my family, my girls, and getting healthy. But yeah, I haven’t talked to them in a while.”

Since the season ended. Crosby hasn’t talked about where he wants to play in 2026, but it feels like there might be options on the table this year that he wasn’t willing to consider a year ago.

Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter talked about Crosby’s future a few weeks ago and he wasn’t overwhelmingly optimistic that Crosby will play for the Raiders beyond this year.

“I think it is very fair to say that if you think it is a 100 percent slam dunk that [Crosby] will be back with the Raiders next year, I do not agree with you,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast.

“I know that Maxx loves Raider Nation. I know he loves the Raiders organization, but I’m telling you, I will have a lot to say whenever it is determined what’s going to happen. But for right now, I can just tell you, last year before he re-signed with the Raiders, he made it clear it wasn’t about money. It was about championships. He wanted to go get championships and it wasn’t about rebuilding,” Carpenter continued.

“The Raiders are in a complete rebuild. They told him they were going after championships this year because they did not correctly assess the situation, and they didn’t. And if you only go off of what was said last year, and I’m not only going off of what was said last year, but any reasonable person who did or who does, can clearly see that there are issues there. I am, I’ll get more into that later, but I wanted to touch on that, and I will get more into it later, but sooner rather than later.”
