The Raiders lost 27-20 to the Chiefs on Sunday and while there were things to be happy about from the Raiders’ perspective, there are still the same glaring issues on offense that have plagued the team all year.
The Athletic’s Vic Tafur talked about one of them immediately after the game.
Like everyone else, Tafur wants to know why the coaches haven’t been willing to move away from the running game when it isn’t working.
“I really don’t know what the conversation is between Luke Gesty and Antonio Pierce. I know Antonio wants to run the ball. And they’re both stubborn about it,” Tafur said on the Just Win podcast after Sunday’s game.
“But at this point, clearly to me, forget running the ball,” Tafur continued. “Obviously, that’s ideally what you want to do, but when you’re moving the ball, as they were, and Gardner’s rolling out, he’s finding guys, he’s in the rhythm and had some confidence. That’s been an issue for him this year with the turnovers, but he was kind of rolling for a little bit today. It all kind of stopped.”
“I’m sure the Chiefs made some adjustments. They took away Brock Bowers to some extent. But you’ve still got to throw in the ball. He’s that good of a player. Even if he’s covered, like Davante [Adams] used to always say, he’s not really covered. So I thought that was a big, big mistake. I thought they got conservative. I thought they definitely try to run the ball and clearly, they cannot run the ball very well this year.”
After the game, head coach Antonio Pierce wasn’t critical of his offensive coordinator, but the team’s offensive struggles could eventually cost Pierce his job if he isn’t able to find answers.
Getsy is trying to get the offense on track, but after 8 games it’s hard to feel like the situation is moving in a good direction.
Even when Getsy tries to throw a wrinkle in the offense, he still seems to find disaster.
Maybe in the weeks ahead we will see this formation again and understand what the offense was trying to accomplish by lining up an offensive tackle at outside wide receiver on two consecutive plays.

Well here we are again, MD was kinda forced to TRY AP and as he said that he had a short leash, he’ll be gone at the end of the season along with Getz, We need a real leader, let’s see what happens at the end of the season, maybe a coach opens up that just had a bad year, either way the Raiders are moving on

Run, Run, Pass, Punt…. the most predictable crap in football. Even college teams move away from what is not working.
The Head Coach WANTS to win be 3 and have the ball last. NO team will ever win in today’s NFL if your goal is not to win by 30, then except winning by 8 at the end. If your goal is to win by 3, you WILL lose by two possession.
Also, the Raiders NEED to abandon Las Vegas and move to North Dakoda or something. At least everyone in the seats would root for the home team. Make that stadium a ‘neutral field’ for all teams and schedule it that way. Mark Davis has KILLED the Raider Nation 12th man advantage and filled up the Black Hole with the visiting crow and that will NEVER change. So sad.

replace the QB , replace the Coordinator and We may actually make the Play offs next year. our Defense played fine ,they just got wore out ,to much time on the Field . give the Coach another year .

Well this season is a bust, minshew is another free agent bust. The raiders biggest concern is qback, the boyz need a dual threat qb, the drop back qback is a dead issue.
