Raiders weren’t finalists in the Harrison Jr. sweepstakes
The Raiders desperately need a no. 1 wide receiver, but they were not one of the teams in strong contention for Marvin Harrison Jr, it sounds like.
Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter was asked about the Raiders interest in Harrison on his podcast on Sunday night, and he said it has been about two weeks since the Raiders had any real interest in the former Cardinals wide receiver.
“It’s just like when people said they were in on Vita Vea and they weren’t,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast.
“I told you very early that the Raiders would only have been interested in Marvin Harrison if the price had been right… so the Raiders did early ask what the price would be and it was a ridiculously stupid price and that’s why I said to you… Two weeks ago, I said the Raiders are not interested at a stupid price… they have not been in this since I reported that two weeks ago. The price was ridiculously high. Houston just overpaid.”
Could the Raiders be sellers at the trade deadline?
It’s possible the decision makers in Las Vegas will make a move for a wide receiver ahead of the November 10 trade deadline, but the Raiders’ playoff chances took a hit in the last two weeks, and it might not make as much sense to be in-season buyers.
With their schedule featuring the Bills and Rams in the next two weeks, there’s a good chance the Raiders will be 3-4 going into their week 8 matchup with the Jets.
After the Jets, they travel to Santa Clara to face the 49ers and host the Seahawks the week after the trade deadline.
Depending on how the next four games play out, there is a chance GM John Spytek will end up being a seller at the trade deadline.
If the next month doesn’t go well for Klint Kubiak and company, there’s no doubt teams will be calling about Maxx Crosby (again), and if a contending team loses their quarterback in the next month, has Kirk Cousins been impressive enough to be a trade target?
There’s a reason Aidan O’Connell was kept at a third quarterback, and some believe Spytek held on to O’Connell to give the team flexibility with Cousins ahead of the traded deadline.
What would Cousins’ trade value look like?
A few days ago, Cousins was the talk of the league, but on Sunday the Patriots took advantage of Cousins’ arm strength and lack of mobility.
The NFL is a week-to-week league and Cousins certainly isn’t coming off a stellar performance in week 5.
A late-round pick would make sense for Cousins and would probably be worth it for a team desperate for a starting quarterback around the trade deadline.
No one wants to talk about it, but it will also be interesting to see what kind of offers come in for Crosby. We might never know what the offers look like, but would a team be willing to offer anything close to what the Ravens offered and backed away from in March?
Probably not, but you never know. The Cowboys could certainly use a player like Crosby right about now.

We have nothing to to replace Maxx with. That’s scary, if it was 2 first round picks I’d understand, I bet the Niners would be interested…then again Spytek will just force stupid picks
