Was Davante Adams’ trade request a response to Antonio Pierce “liking” a tweet about the Raiders trading him?
Pierce made news with his social media activity on Monday, and it wasn’t reported that Adams requested a trade until Tuesday. So the timeline might suggest Adams was responding to the news on Monday.
But that wasn’t necessarily the order the situation played out between Adams and the Raiders. According to an NFL Network report, Adams actually asked for the trade a sooner than it was advertised.
“Adams, one of the NFL’s preeminent wide receivers, informed the Raiders on Monday he would prefer to be traded,” insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo said.
What that means is it’s possible Pierce “liked” a post about Adams being traded after Adams asked for the trade. It’s also possible that Adams asked for a trade immediately after the news on Pierce.
Regardless of the timeline, the Raiders and Adams are preparing to go in different directions and there’s a chance a trade could play out much sooner than later. Now that everyone knows the sides are open to separating, it might be in the best interest of everyone involved to not let the process drag out.
It’s been a dramatic 24 hours, but the reality is the situation between Adams and the Raiders has been moving in this direction for a while. Adams reportedly approached the team about a trade last year, and there’s no reason to believe he’s any more content a year later.
For now, the teams that make the most sense to trade for Adams are the Jets and Commanders, and it will be interesting to see if Adams will use the leverage of his contract to force his way to where he wants to go.
No team will be trading for his sizeable contract if they aren’t confident he will show up right away and play.

Wa was wa crybabyreally hasn’t done much since he became a raider so take the money and run thief good luck in your nt ripe off on your nt team maybe the saints want you and your bad hamstring joker we have lots of better recievers anyway shed the dead weight 😉
Let him go as a Raider fan Tony doing his thing as a coach LBC but to continue to drag drag drag Adam’s through the rebuilding is ridiculous I see the Raiders doing better be we need a OFFENSE BADDDDD!! and as of now it AIN’T HAPPENING BOUNCE DEVANTE ASAP
This is not unexpected. The Raiders are just spinning wheels. How many years can a player who wants to win and get to the Super Bowl take the lack of progress?
💯. Nothing personal. I’m glad Davante wanted to be here in the first place. This isn’t the team he was traded to. No need to be pissed at Adam’s. It’s better for him and us in the long run. (Let’s tank!)
We would have heard it if he did because he can’t seem to keep his mouth shut.
So let’s put the truth out there instead of speculating. One way or the other it doesn’t matter. The organization failed when it came to this super talented wr. They got rid of Carr for nothing which in turn led to them not getting any draft capital to move up for AP’s guy whose so far been tremendous with the OC that AP wanted but for one reason or another didn’t get. So the previous regime which AP was a part of traded not 1 but 2 premium picks to get DA only to run the franchise QB out the door and replace him with not 1, not 2 but 3 inadequate replacements. Maxx should want as well when they pay big $$$ to Wilkins instead of an actual QB. Terrible front office and owner.! Start reporting truths!
DA wanted to move to the Raiders because of Carr who is a nice guy. A team player. DA’s college buddy, who would give him the ball. He’s getting older and wants his Stats to look better. He appears not to care about being a Raider or about any team. He’s in it for him. So, if given the chance he’ll go to the team where he’ll get the ball the most. At this time in his career, it’s all about the personal glory. Not his team or teammates, and not so much a ring. Just his stats. I think AP immediately recognized that. They each have very different approaches to their craft. One is all about teamwork, sacrifice, loyalty and doing whatever one can do to help the team win that ring. Then there’s DA who’s all about the stats. AP tried to teach Adam’s the Raiders way but he didn’t go for it. AD can go with the guy who thinks like him in NY or the guy who’ll do anything for him in NO.
But come on Raiders. How can you expect to win games and keep the best players and coaches when you make choices like Minshew, Garapalo, and the list goes on and on? I’ve come close to given up but once a Raider fan always a raider fan. I still have a tiny bit of hope because of your new head coach. Give him something to work with, man. Maybe the Lions leadership can give you some pointers. You’re not the loveable Chicago Cubs. You’re the Raiders!
