For nine weeks, Raiders’ offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has presided over arguably the NFL’s worst offense, and there’s a chance he isn’t going get an opportunity at week 10.
According to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, Sunday’s embarrassing offensive effort from the Raiders might end up being Getsy’s final showcase with the team.
“Quarterback Gardner Minshew II was benched for the third time this season, and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy may not survive the bye week. And ironically, it’s the offense’s early game success that makes the rest of the games like Sunday feel especially miserable,” Tafur reported after Sunday’s game.
What’s interesting about Tafur’s statement on Getsy is that he has been the beat writer covering the team that’s probably been the most patient with the first-year offensive coordinator.
Earlier in the week, Tafur acknowledged the Raiders offense has underachieved under Getsy but added that he is tired of all the blame being cast at Getsy.
“I’m not sure I can handle another nine weeks of Luke Getsy talk on social media and from reporters,” Tafur said on the Just Win podcast this week. “Clearly, the offense stinks. I don’t know if that’s all on Luke. I mean, we talked about this before. Gardner’s got 11 turnovers. Most in the league.”
“They can’t run the ball, [the] offensive line wasn’t very good and now they’re kind of banged up,” Tafur continued. “So I don’t know what difference it would make. I know fans want change, but I guess the hope is that for the Raiders, and the coaches have said this to the players, you kind of keep working at it. You hope it clicks at some point… But I just think that I just can’t handle much more Luke Getsy talk. I’m at the end of my rope with that one.”
At this point, head coach Antonio Pierce has little choice but to make a drastic move involving the offense. That might involve taking away play-calling responsibilities from Getsy, but it sounds like his firing might also be on the table.

You start with changing coaches. But minshew makes it hard to do well as well as a POruS o line. Has to happen thou.
You never should have hired this loser of an offensive coordinator in the first place. Didn’t get it done in Chicago. Sure not getting it done here. Take Gardner Minshew with you.
It would be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic at this point.
get Luke out of here been saying for too long, he was bad in Chicago too he has no ideas after the first round of plays of how to adjust
Good! Let’s hope he doesn’t.
And if Telesco isn’t poaching the best OT’s off practice squads ( at least 2) he should be gone too. And not charger retreads.
AP’s should be next, if this shyte show continues!
