Narratives change course quickly in the NFL.
Two days ago, the Raiders were celebrating huge win over the Browns despite being without their two best players.
By Tuesday afternoon, head coach Antonio Pierce had ‘liked’ a tweet about Davante Adams being traded and Adams requested to be traded. We don’t know the exact timeline and sequence that everything played out, but whether it was the chicken or the egg that came first, the result is the same: Adams wants a trade.
Now it’s only a matter of time before Davante Adams is going to be traded, and according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Adams would like to get out of Las Vegas as soon as possible.
An ESPN report on Wednesday indicated that the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints are at the top of Adams’ preferred destinations, and that makes sense considering he has a history with Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr.
From the Raiders standpoint, it is believed that they would rather send Adams to the NFC, and that should give the Saints a little edge in the sweepstakes.
It also might be possible that the Jets would make an offer the Raiders couldn’t refuse. We know Aaron Rodgers has a strong voice within the organization and it’s no secret that he hasn’t developed a great rapport with third-year wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
“I don’t think we do a lot of different stuff to be honest,” Wilson told members of the media this week.
“I watch football on Sundays, and I see a lot of teams mix it up and stuff like that. I don’t think we do that,” Wilson continued. “I think we know our identity. It’s just about going out and executing it or figuring out if it’s going to work. I don’t think we’re trying a lot of different things. “I know, personally, my route tree hasn’t been what it has been the last two years as far as the stuff I’ve been running. It’s just about figuring out if it’s the right identity and whether it’s going to win games.”
Rodgers couldn’t have been excited to see those comments from Wilson.
The Raiders believe they can survive at wide receiver without Adams, but it’s possible that Wilson could factor into a deal with the Jets.
Ultimately, the Raiders are believed to be interest in stockpiling draft picks to potentially take a top quarterback in next year’s draft, so it might be in their best interest to take the best package of draft picks available – as long as the deal doesn’t involve Adams somehow ending up in Kansas City with the Chiefs.
x: @raidersbeat
If he wants out send him packing! It will be a blow to his ego if we can’t get a first round pick for him
Maybe it’s time for him to go.he dropped three passes against Ravins maybe more. It look like he wasn’t trying his best anymore.
AP.. You are suppose to being helping the Raiders, not destroying with stupid moves!!!!
you wanted to be a HC, So act like one!!!!!
I like the idea of trading Adams. After all, we are in rebuild mode and could make better use of younger talent to fortify positions of need. Out top three draft picks are getting meaningful snaps, so just maybe we finally have a GM that can draft talented players?! But, only time will tell.
