Rex Ryan Has Strong Words for Davante Adams After Trade Request

Former NFL head coach Rex Ryan doesn’t have many passive opinions, so it wasn’t much of a surprise on Sunday when he shared a scathing review of the Davante Adams trade situation.

Ryan might be a little biased considering his brother, Rob, is an assistant on Antonio Pierce’s staff, but his comments are in line with a lot of Raider fans at the moment.

“Get a guy that doesn’t want to be in your locker room the hell out,” Ryan said of Davante Adams on ESPN’s NFL Countdown.

“If a guy doesn’t want to be in your locker room, then you know what? The hell with you,” Ryan continued. “I’d much rather win with my type of people than a [guy that doesn’t want to be here]. Guess what? Don’t let the door hit you in the ***.”

Former Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss jumped in after Ryan and shared another perspective.

“We’re talking about an organization where your career goes and dies,” Moss said. “Man, what happened to Hunter Renfrow in that organization?”

“We’re talking about a Swiss army knife, and I’m not trying to compare Hunter Renfrow and Davante Adams… with everything they’re talking about with this hamstring, Davante Adams just wants to play football.”

The hamstring injury is another issue, but it will be interesting to see what happens if the Raiders don’t trade Adams this week and he is healthy enough to play on Sunday.

Will he play or will he be held out of the lineup in anticipation of a trade?

  1. Randy Moss you are the biggest bum you took the money from Raiders and never showed up. And now you have a comment about Raider organization you should look in the mirror and be ashamed of yourself

  2. Get a **** quarterback!!! I’ve been a true raider fan for many years. I don’t see them having a winning season in my lifetime which I have maybe ten years left. I can’t understand why they left Oakland, they could have made some some kinda deal in the bay area. The owner is something to be desired, he doesn’t know how to run a football organization!!!

  3. Raiders should starting tanking this season and get a high draft pick in the first round to get an QB. That is the only way the Raiders can improve fast. Case in point, Washington Commanders.

  4. First of all, Randy Moss’ opinion doesn’t hold much weight with me. Rex Ryan is spot on. If Davante doesn’t want to be here, don’t play him on Sunday. In fact, don’t even trade him till we get something of value for him. Let him ride the pine until then……No, tell him to just sit at home.

  5. You don’t have to be biased for his opinion to be completely legit. Especially when it’s a blue chip number one.

  6. Randy Moss and Davante Adams both knew what team they was going to when they signed the contract. The Raiders have been the Raiders for a very long time. They knew what they was getting into. But they got paid. They got what they wanted. And than cry. I’m a die hard Raiders fan too. I’m not hating.

  7. Get him the hell out and get a good return for him. Mcdaniels messed everything up trading carr. That’s why Adams came to raiders in the first place. And, don’t really blame Adams.

  8. I agree with coach Ryan. Adams is calling for a trade because he was called out? If the shoe fits put it on!! Adams is good for the team and we are better with him. It’s obvious his heart is not in Vegas. So get him the hell out of here. We have problems yes, but bro dont be a part of the problem be the solution. There is no I in TEAM!! Go Raiders. WIN LOSE OR NO 17 RAIDERS TILL I DIE!!

  9. No, sorry Raidernation

A lot of haters who work for the NFL would love for Adams to leave and the Raiders to get nothing for him. Randy Moss quit on the team but the Raiders were feuding with the NFL and he was in the middle of it. Funny how he says careers go to die! No, I think some of these guys were talking to haters and critics of Al Davis in the NFL/ NFL execs who hated the team and during the Raiders slump(’03-’11) some of these guys just quit on the team and got paid and then left. It was just a time when outsiders MIGHT talked guys Al bought in and paid to quit so they could be traded/ released and go play for other teams. Moss talks about careers going to Raiders to die but he had the perfect place for him- a genius owner, loves the deep pass, a team that lets you be yourself(not as much as in the past) and who will give you talent to help you win. But they didn’t so he wasn’t happy being there.

Some of those guys who want to put down on Al’s era were quitting on him. I guess some guys want staff that get on their cases/ discipline them because Al would pay guys and try to help them win.

But some are right Al was trying to win this new regime like most of them after Al’s era-, keep being cheap bringing in affordable guys instead of taking chances and spending big on more star players. And they’ve been mediocre with their game plans and in the draft and losing and maybe D. Adams was unhappy about it.
