Former Teammate Shared What He Thought of Maxx Crosby in his First Season with the Raiders: “Never in a Million Years”

Maxx Crosby is making a huge impact on the league, but he is also making a huge impact on the people around him – even some that aren’t on the team anymore.

Former Raiders’ offensive lineman Denzelle Good appeared on the Graph & Wasted Show this week and talked about Crosby, who is now regarded as one of the best defensive players in the league.

Asked if he thought Crosby was going to develop into the player that he is today, this was Good’s response…

“Never in a million years. Never in a million years would I expect that. When I first seen Maxx, he was this skinny white dude. [He was] skinny and then he broke his hand, so he’s in there working out with one hand and some special apparatus, so I seen the work ethic, but I didn’t know what was to come…”

“I knew he played hard, but a lot of guys don’t get classified as having a motor until they hit that next level every d— play, every practice, every day, every workout, every run. That’s when I noticed it. I had to start watching him in practice. Seeing how he finished his rushes in one on one, seeing how he work out in the weight room. He isn’t the strongest guy, but man, you would think so. He was the first one there, the last one gone. It was crazy to see that transformation, especially when he got sober. That’s when I really seen it. I was like ‘Oh, man. He going to be a problem.’

Once I seen that, I knew he was going to be a problem, but I still didn’t think he was going to be the problem that he is now. It’s insane to me watching ‘The Condor’ go crazy like that. My boy really turned up, man.

I had to tell him a couple times, I don’t want to be one of them annoying old guys that used to be on the team always messaging people and stuff, but every now and again I just have to tell ‘Dog, I’m proud of you, man.’ I think I messaged him one time and I was like, I know I ain’t nobody to be telling anybody else that I’m proud of them or anything like that, but [I told him] ‘I’m proud of you, man, because you did the d— thing, dog. You did it by the book. Exactly how you supposed to do this sh–.’

With his family, with his work ethic, with is play on the field. He doing everything by the book with his life. He changed his sh– up, man. It’s hard to do that. It’s hard to make that choice and then go through with it. So I commend Maxx for his work.”

For what it’s worth, another former member of the Raiders talked about Crosby earlier in the week.

Former Raiders GM Mike Mayock, who drafted Crosby in the fourth round of the 2019 draft, talked about the “addictive personality” that has actually turned into one of Crosby’s strengths as a person and as a player…

“Maxx owns that locker room. Maxx is driven in all the right ways. Maxx has an addictive personality, and keep in mind, Maxx was an alcoholic and an addict, and he’s gone public with all that. He has an addictive personality, but he has gotten rid of all the bad things and now he is addicted to the good things [like] like being a great husband, a great father, he wants to go to the Hall of Fame, and more than anything, he wants to win Super Bowls.”

  1. I love to watch Maxx Crosby play football, he has a never say die attitude about him. He is my favorite football player on my team the Raiders. I even ordered a jersey with Madd Maxx’s 98 on it. He’s one of the most impressive football players I have seen. And knowing what he has turned into as a player, and a person. I have nothing but the deepest of respect.

  2. When you hold yourself;
    Accountable
    Responsible and have Respect for people & mostly yourself. Nothing but good will come. Mr. Crosby is well above that in all traits. Blessings to him & his family that gave him the support to be where he is & has become. Also our former “G.M- Mike Maylock” who drafted him & gave the opportunity to be a part of ” Raider Nation” & be able to achieve his goals one day very soon. Just Win Baby- Ala Me. Al Great Davis
