Thin Again at WR, Raiders Could Pursue Dream Scenario for Derek Carr in the Offseason

The loss of Henry Ruggs was a huge blow to the Raiders. The impact of his tragic accident has been felt at every level of the organization.

From a football standpoint, the Raiders have mostly struggled on offense since releasing Ruggs, but in the long term his loss may have opened the door for a QB/WR reunion that would have been a pipe dream just a month ago.

Davante Adams is unquestionably one of the top wide receivers in the NFL and if we learned anything about him in the offseason, it’s that his future in Green Bay is uncertain, at best. Aaron Rodgers is probably in his last year with the Packers and Adams will be a free agent after the season.

Adams and Carr were college teammates at Fresno State and there’s a sense that the two would like to play together again. In June, Adams talked about the possibility of someday playing with Carr again and he didn’t leave much for interpretation.

“I love Derek [Carr] to death,” Adams said. “We’ve got a great friendship and we still communicate really, really consistently. He’s one of my best friends. Obviously it would be a dream to be able to play with him. But I’m a Packer now. Until that point when we make that decision, I guess we just gotta, we’ll see what happens.”

Even though Adams is slated to become a free agent after the season, the Packers have the franchise tag as a tool to keep him around. But if Adams wants out, there are ways he could most likely convince the Packers to trade him. If that happens, the Raiders should be willing to pay whatever it takes to bring a true no. 1 receiver to Vegas.

A first-round pick and more…

Who says no?

    1. As part of the RaiderNation, Ruggs loss was tragic, even for fans. I am proud of the Raiders for releasing him as a Raider though. Our Raiders WILL prevail. They are the Raiders. ❤

  1. Why not let him force his way out of Green Bay and let them take less compensation.

    1. Unfortunately it’s not all DC fault if you look at the raiders defense it’s been at the bottom 10 the past 10 years of a team is averaging almost 25 points and more doesn’t matter what QB you have won’t get the job done. For example look at the patriots again they have a rookie QB but he gets the job done because of the defense and coach. Also the raiders have hired out dated coaches their schemes might’ve worked 10 years ago but these new coaches like the rams and Arizona are young minded . Not to mentioned the drafts picks haven’t helped either in the past for derek carr.

      1. Lmao 🤣🤣🤣 always blaming the coach or defense . Most of the Raiders woes this season is due to Derek Carr bad decision making with a win one game to lease 3 in a row it’s been like that since Carr took the helm. 7years ago. With one winning 12-4 playoff bert which Raiders we’re bounced out in the first round. We had Kajol Mack and a good defense and the offense always have killed themselves with overthrows , taking the sacks and and interceptor on the run. All this is Carr on him. And those mistakes were game cluthers . So this business that Carr is the future of this organization is a overstatement . Carr has had 7 years to prove his worth but seemingly fell short. This is Carr do or die season he knows that the coach knows that and Mark Davis knows that.

        1. Please if you are going to post something post it with intelligence. Reading thru all of the posts it’s sickening to see nobody can spell. Go back to school and come back maybe with some intelligence!!

        2. What world are you in homie? Carr is a great QB, anyone that follows the silver n black knows he as had so many changes through out his years here coaches players and 28th rank defense so stop who’s tilts Carrs fault homie…

      2. 100% agree n to all those idiots who don’t know football who are going to say Derek is underrated he gets a million yards and he has a great comp % JUST SHUT UP. He’s NOT A WINNER he sucks in the red zone, he throws too many picks , he is always at the top of the league with FUMBLES he ALWAYS PLAYS LIKE **** WHEN IT MATTERS MOST he throws well between the 20s n then sucks ***. He is always going on losing streaks n they always have to do with him playing like garbage, n don’t give me the o line bull **** because it’s a stupid argument, n the no weapons around him is total crap because he has plenty of weapons. You know what Derek is HE’S A LOSER. HE DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO WIN, HE DOESN’T HAVE THAT DOG IN HIM, he’s too busy loving everyone and saying”we were close” or “we were right there” gtfoh . He wins a big game against a good team n then goes on a losing streak against the weakest teams, never fails. Do we want a bunch of yards between the 20s that don’t even matter, an amazingly positive attitude while taking losses over and over and not fucking chewing anyone out or not ever getting fed up with poor play when it matters…. Or do you want touchdowns and WINS? So don’t with this guy

        1. Stop complaining, you want Cam, Zack Wilson, how about Baker running your offense? Derek isn’t the problem bad coaching, drafting, scouting, and DEFENSE….last 15-20 years have lead to this once fabled franchise being the but of jokes to current generation of football fans.

      3. It’s not all DC idk what your watching but HE’S THE FUCKING QB THE LEADER OF THE TEAM HE TOUCHES THE BALL EVERY PLAY, HE DOESN’T HAVE THAT WINNING MENTALITY N IF HE SUCKS *** AT SCORING THEN YOU CAN’T WIN GAMES!!!!!! EXPLAIN TO ME WHO’S FAULT THESE LOSSES ARE THIS YEAR THEN????? HE’S HAD PLENTY OF HELP AND WEAPONS THE DEFENCE IS AMAZINGLY TOUGH N YET ON ALMOST EVERY SINGLE LOSS HAS BEEN BECAUSE WE DON’T SCORE POINTS N BECAUSE HE PLAYS LIKE TOTAL GARBAGE. Throwing PICKS, fumbling, missing open receivers, over throwing players, running out of bounds when he’s 3 yards or LESS from a first down, bro if he’s running out moving on the pocket you can GUARANTEE it’s going to be an incompletion AT BEST, but most importantly he sucks *** in the red zone, he has ALWAYS BEEN HORRENDOUS IN THE RED ZONE. Stop defending him because he throws for a bunch of yards between the 20 yard lines, and all those years come in 50% of his games because the other 50 he throws for no more than 200 most of which are when the game is already lost

        1. By your logic Dan Marino wasn’t a great QB. John Elway didn’t win a Superbowl until the last few years of his career. Earl Morrall has two superbowl rings and he was primarily a backup. Jim Kelly lost four straight Superbowls yet is in the discussions of being a great QB. Trent Dilfer lead Baltimore to a Superbow.l I promise you, no one is ever going to bring his name up as a great QB. Rex Grossman got the Bears to a Superbowl…..last I checked he wasn’t exactly an elite QB.

If you have one metric and one metric only for measuring a QB greatness and no other considerations, then Tom Brady is god and no other QB should even throw the ball because Brady is 7-3 in the Superbowls with 14 records.

But when you start looking at other factors like the fact the Cooper Kupp has just about the same amount of receiving yards then Renfroe and Waller combined. And he’s scored more TDs by himself then Renfroe, Waller, Ruggs and Edwards combined…..you start to understand the lack of talent that really plagues the Raiders depth charts. Not a single Raider receiver (Waller is a TE) would not be more than 4th, maybe a 3rd string receiver on any other team.

Factor in that the Raiders are playing Simpson, James, Leatherwood, and Parker…..4 brand new starters on the offensive line. Carr’s spread the ball around about the same pace as Brady. Nearly identical in yards and number of different receivers. The difference is Brady is throwing to Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Antonio Brown, and Rob Gronkowski.

Carr leads the league in 20+ yard competition ending the discussion about him being a dump-off passer. And he’s tied for fourth for 40+ yard completions. But again, if your only matrix is Superbowl wins, here you go.. Which QB would you rather have over Carr

Tom Brady – 7 wins in 10 tries (at 44 with no line to protect him? And no one to throw the ball to?)
Ben Roethlisberger 2 out of 3 (at 39 with no line to protect him? And no one to throw the ball to?)
Aaron Rodgers 1 for 1 (t 38 with no line to protect him? And no one to throw the ball to?)
          Joe Flacco 1 for 1 (36 and isn’t even a starter anymore)
Russell Wilson 1 for 2 (His 1,800 yards and 12 TDs are about half of Carrs stats)
Cam Newton 0 for 1 (Seriously, he’s on his 3rd team this year and barely is a starter)
Matt Ryan 0 for 1 (36 yrs old, 800 less passing yards and 3 less touchdown passes)
Nick Foles 1 for 1 (Hasn’t started a single game this year, and hasn’t played more than to games in a season since 21014
Jared Goff 0 for 1 (1,000 less yards and half the TDs)
Jimmy Garoppolo 0 for 1 (1,000 less yards and half the TDs)
Patrick Mahomes 1 for 2 (May be the only actual QB I’d take over Carr, except Car’rs salary cap is 19 million, Mahomes is 36 million next year.

        2. Derek Carr is our QB and the Nation including myself backs that up 100%. You guys that are calling him a loser ect… you and ur bad vibes and plague like arrogance spread like a cancer and if you can’t help build up positive growth with the rest of us then there’s the door because quite frankly we are better off without you. That’s how you approach the real losers and there cancerous mindset.

    2. THIS IS 100% TRUTH…..WHY NOT GO GET WATSON….AN METCALF FROM SEAHAWKS…..AN MORE SOLID DB & OL
      HELP…..CARR TIME IS BEEN UP

      1. surrrree…..just get Watson and Metcalf…..smh….how are you going to pull that off? What are you going to give up to get them? Which current players and/or picks will you be offering? Do you have inside information regarding Watson’s off-field impending legal battles? Has the Commissioner told you that Watson won’t be suspended? How do you plan to manage the media/publicity fallout? How’s Watson’s soon-to-be $40 Million annual salary going to impact the Cap, and the ability to sign our own impending FA’s, such as Crosby, Renfrow, let alone trying to sign and/or draft other players to fill the holes on this roster? Watson had a MVP quality season last year, but his team went 4-12 because his Defense was as bad as the Raiders. Why would the Seahawks trade Metcalf?

    3. maybe you fix all the stuff around him like the Line or getting a elite wr or the defense or maybe just maybe a COACH makes sense cuz top 10 QBs grows on trees right HE LEADS THE NFL IN PASSING YARDS and has no where near the talent to work with than any of the QBs you would consider elite.

      1. Well said. In the first 3 season games alone he LED the league in passing yards. Everybody is quick to trash Carr. Carr is definitely what we need

        1. Guys I love Carr but the only way the raiders are going to be successful is that he has to stop being a bitch in the pocket and start being more mobile he panics to quick

    4. You should find another team to root for because Derek Carr isn’t going anywhere. He will sign a 5 year $220 million deal in the off season

  2. Can’t you make your mind up, this season so far you must have reported, I mean make up more than 1,000 stories about how Carr is being traded or cut. According to your sources, wait you don’t use them so what you make up or get from betting sites Carr won’t be with the Raiders.

It wouldn’t be so bad if you actually interviewed anyone with the Raiders, or if just one of you stories actually happened, but none of them have.

The raiderbeatdown needs to go away

  3. Derek Carr haters kill me. So, Trent “effin” Dilfer, and Brad “effin” Johnson can QB teams to SB victories, but DC can’t? Check please!

    1. Y’all can’t really be blaming everything on DC he is ride or die for his team and takes all of your **** but this a 53 man roster with some questionable coaching . The man needs stability all around he is about to set the record for coach’s played for on one team this guy is a Raider we need defensive help renfrow Waller Jacob’s playing against 9 guys because our line is so good . So we lose it because dc didn’t want win go jump on kc band wagon we don’t need you here. DC will be a raider record holder for life

  4. We have Desean Jackson. He still has a couple of seasons left in him if he’s used sparingly. The Raiders have a variety of specialists at wide receiver. Each with a special talent for a specific type of task:

    1) The Burner Desean Jackson
    2) The Route Runner Hunter Renfrow
    3) The Possession type Zay Jones
    4) The Jump Baller Bryan Edwards

A good coach would know how to use these four types.

    1. 1) Two deep zone to guard Jackson
      2) LB’s play over the top to prevent big gains so Renfroe averages 10 yards a catch at best
      3) Zay Jones can barely break free from his shadow let alone a professional athlete
      4) Edwards shines one game, disappears for 3 games. Once he learns but forth consistent effort. He needs a veteran mentor.

And that’s why all those guys combined have just under 1500 yards on the season…..< 375 yards per receiver average

  5. A lot of people say get rid of Carr, honestly what outside weapons have he had in his career that were game changers? Cooper maybe and that’s 1! His numbers aren’t bad if you look at career for what he had to work with plus who are you gonna get better? Give the man a couple relievers to go with Renfrew and waller and watch this offense explode!

    1. Agreed remember when we had Carson Palmer. Everybody jumping on Carr. How did Palmer do? Palmer was Elite. Carr didn’t have the weapons to throw to also the oline was horrible. How was are season going when the Colts injured Carr? Haters don’t even watch or have played. Stick to golf or tennis haters
