Rapoport: Raiders Might “Quickly” Have Resolution Coming on Davante Adams

Is the Davante Adams trade situation moving towards a resolution this week?

Based on comments from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it might only be a matter of hours before Adams has a new NFL home.

To this point, the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints have been considered the favorites to trade for Adams, and it has been reported that Adams wants to get out of Las Vegas as soon as possible.

“Help could be on the way for the New York Jets. It could be today or tomorrow. That’s how quickly this thing could happen,” Rapoport reported on Monday morning.

“My understanding is [Davante] is nearing full health with his hamstring,” Rapoport continued. “That would be mean he is able to be traded. The Saints, actually, have been the most aggressive team as far as talking to the Raiders and trying to get Davante Adams, but the Jets are for sure in it.”

It was reported last week that Raiders owner Mark Davis set a firm price on Adams and the team does not want to take less than a second-round pick for their star wide receiver.

“There’s going to be some more conversations today about where they stand [and] how high should they go,” Rapoport continued on the Jets. “The Raiders have been very clear, privately, they would like at least a second-round pick, [but] will the Jets go there?”

The good news for the Raiders is that the Jets and Saints might both have a 2-3 record after Monday night and there could be a sense of desperation developing with both teams.

Ultimately, there seems to be an expectation that Aaron Rodgers will put enough pressure on the Jets to make something happen. It has already been reported that the Jets are Adams’ preferred destination, so there are definitely plenty of signs pointing to New York for the Raiders’ disgruntled wide receiver.

For the Raiders, getting rid of Adams is only the beginning of the big decisions they have coming as an organization. The quarterback situation in Las Vegas has never looked worse, and one of the reasons they need to hold firm on a second-round pick for Adams is they may need to use that pick to move up in the 2025 draft and get a quarterback.

One player to watch might be Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders who, coincidentally, ran into Raiders owner Mark Davis last week in Las Vegas.

  1. I was trying to find the words that sum up the Raiders so far, “Disfunction” is what fits best. How do you have a HC, surrounded by 2 former HC’s and still be in this position??? The OC has to go, didn’t work in Chicago, obviously not in Vegas! Put Aiden back in the game coach, your guy isn’t working. Just a reminder, what did Jerry Granville say the NFL stands for? “Not for long” start making some big changes

  2. Unless they fix the OL no QB will be successful here. Everyone knew that the team needed to improve the OL during the offseason, except for the dummies running the team! The problems run deeper than just a QB away from contending. The defense was supposed to be the strength of the team, but they are so inconsistent! First a career backup lights them up in the loss to Carolina. Yesterday they couldn’t stop a rook QB when it mattered. It’s been this way for years!
