Host Calls Raiders Handling of Davante Adams “A Level of Stupid I Can’t Wrap My Head Around”

The Raiders have a situation brewing with Davante Adams and the expectation is that he will be traded within the next week or two.

A report from NFL media on Thursday indicated that Adams most likely won’t be traded before next week and that means the Raiders and their star wide receiver are on course to dominate NFL headlines for at least another week.

In the meantime, the NFL community and Raider fans, in particular, are trying to figure out what went wrong.

How did the situation between Adams and the Raiders escalate so quickly?

Yahoo and Fox Sports radio host Jason Fitz, who is a huge Raiders fan, was a guest on Gojo and Golic this week and he shared a pointed opinion on who is to blame for the events of last 72 hours.

For Fitz, a lot falls on the shoulders of head coach Antonio Pierce.

“At some point if you are Mark Davis you’ve got to look around and say ‘Man, there is a culture issue with this team that no matter what city we’re in, no matter where we play, no matter what happens, weird follows it,'” Fitz said. “That leadership comes from the top down. At some point you’ve got to find a calming presence that’s going to figure out how to make this organization run like actual adults are in the building.”

“To see Davante [Adams] go on Up and Adams to say that he hasn’t heard from Antonio Pierce, to me, is a level of stupid I can’t wrap my head around,” Fitz continued. “I’m not saying Antonio Pierce is a stupid man. I’m just saying that’s stupid decision. When you are a coach and your star is in rumors, and you’ve got some sort of like of a tweet out there, you call the player. It is simple to pick up the phone and call one of your biggest superstars to even everything out.”

DraftKings Network on X (formerly Twitter): “.@jasonfitz says Antonio Pierce needs to get out of a player’s mindset & start thinking more like a coach.”I think that Antonio Pierce still has to show a massive jump in maturity as a coach to show that he understands the actual full job in front of them.” pic.twitter.com/j0CGOUkC6E / X”

An important detail to remember as the situation plays out between Adams and the Raiders is that we still don’t have all the details.

On Monday, all signs pointed to Pierce creating the drama with the ‘like’ of a social media video. On Tuesday, we learned that Adams was requesting to be traded, but the detail many have overlooked is that he reportedly made that communication with the team on Monday.

That means there is a chance Adams requested the trade prior to Pierce doing anything on social media. In fact, based on the timeline that we now have, Pierce’s ‘liked’ video could have been a response to Adams’ trade request.

Social media is already making jokes about Adams suddenly having a healthy hamstring when he is no longer a Raider.

Is there a chance the locker room feels that way, too?

Pierce went to the podium at Wednesday’s press conference, and he didn’t look like a coach with a guilty conscience. He didn’t look anything like a coach that slipped up on social media and got caught. He never even hinted the ‘liked’ video might have been a mistake.

That means it wasn’t a mistake.

Just a guess… there is a lot more to this Davante Adams situation than what has been reported.

Additionally, let’s not forget some of the earlier reports that were blown off by some members of the media.

A year ago, ESPN’s Adam Schefter made a statement that shouldn’t be ignored today. Schefter has been breaking headline after another around Adams this week, so we know he’s connected when it comes to Adams.

This was Schefter’s report from November of 2023…

If the Raiders, who visit the Dolphins on Sunday, can continue their winning ways and prove they are headed in the right direction, Adams might want to remain a part of the organization and stay in Las Vegas, where he has enjoyed living. But if the Raiders struggle down the stretch and Adams thinks a Rodgers reunion in New York enhances his chances of winning, he ultimately could wind up requesting a trade.”

In other words, Schefter predicted 10 months ago that Adams might decide to join forces with Aaron Rodgers again.

Everyone heard Adams say he wanted to “get out of here” last year on the Netflix Receiver series, and is it possible that Desean Jackson wasn’t making up stories and Adams actually hasn’t been happy with the Raiders for a while?

  1. Also pierce has said he’s focused on Denver and let’s the g.m. telesco deal with trades. Why waste your energy on a soap opera? Adam’s turns 33 Xmas eve and is owed over 40 million so this is likely his last year as a raider anyways. Adam’s is selfish were in the playoffs hunt r.n. paying him 17.5 per year. Selfish diva…telesco should take his time finding the best deal. There’s a rumor maxx called him out at the players meeting for his drops and piss poor attitude in the panther game. Were the second team he has quit on. I back coach..

    1. His days with the Raiders were numbered. This would have been in all likelihood his last season in the silver and black. It just came faster. The sooner he is gone the better.

  2. Adam’s been whinning since he came to Vegas please let him go and play football please

  3. It never fails that every year we have a distraction outside of football, we need just to shut this shyt down, and focus on football, we’re trying to fight too many fires. If Devante wants to leave, phuck it , let him go, and think back, when was the last time we had a full football season with no distractions?

  4. Davis has been making dumb decision after dumb decision. AP thinks it’s his team to run his way, kind of a macho, smash mouth, straight outta’ Compton style. Both are out of their league.

  5. Shoot, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that Devante hasn’t been happy for a while. Personally, I sick of his attitude….like his mess don’t stink. He’s always standing in judgement of everyone and everything. I’ve seen him have a bad game. I’ve seen him drop balls he should have caught.(usually right after complaining about other receivers) I say, enough is enough….let him go, move on, and let’s get back to work. A guy with his attitude is a Cancer that grows….cut it out.

  6. When you are making a million dollars a week you better catch every ball that comes towards you period. I would prefer that we swap for Autumn from SF. Or get a deal done with Dallas for Lance and a #2 pick. Don’t send him to the jets or Saints. Rodger’s or Carr don’t deserve him.

  7. It appears sir Adams must have the table set to his liking and he’s never happy unless he’s the star after a win. Not a team player, let him go promptly and wet somebody else’s cheerios.
